We the People by 40 Below Summer Ukulele Chords

Tuning: Dropped-D down 1 1/2 steps (low to high, B, F#, B, E, G#, C#)

I’ve pretty much covered both guitar parts in this tab. Enjoy…

Key:
P.M. : Palm mute
% : Rest
X : String mute
~ : Hammer-on/Pull-off
: Harmonic (natural)

Intro/main riff:

Gtr.1)

F#|--3--3--3--2--%--3--3--2--2----
B |--3--3--3--2----------3--3--2--2----

Gtr.2)
(x2)

B |------------------------------------|--------0--
F#|--3--3--3--2--%--3--%-3--3--2--2---%|--2--2-----
B |--3--3--3--2-----3----3--3--2--2----|--2--2-----

[P.M.]

For guitar 1, the harmonic is not always heard.

Verse:

Gtr.1)

[A)]

B |--3--3--3--2--%--3--%-3--3--2--2--%--2--2-2-2-2--
[P.M.-----------------------------------------]

[B)]

B |--3--3--3--2--%--3--%-3--3--2--2--
[P.M.--------------------------]

[C)]

E |--5--5--5--4-----5----5--5--4--4--
B |--3--3--3--2--%--3--%-3--3--2--2--

Gtr.2)

[A)]

C#|-----------------------------------------14--
G#|--12-------------13----12~13~12--------------

[B)]

C#|--------------------------------------15-14--
G#|--12-------------13----12~13~12-0------------

For guitar 1, the notes are played on the high B, they only sound lower because they are being doubled by the bass. In part C, let the last chord ring out. For guitar 2, some sort of filter is used to get the sound. What worked best for me, was to use my wah pedal with its toe up the whole time through the riff. You could also use your neck pick up instead of your bridge pick up to get that sort of bass-drowned sound.

Chorus:

[A)]

F#|--2--0--2---3--3--2--0--2---3--3--
B |--2--0--2---3--3--2--0--2---3--3--

[P.M.] [—-]

Don’t palm mute the first time you play each chorus.

[B)]

E |-10-10-10-9-9-9-10-10-10-9-9-9-10-10-9-9--
B |--8--8--8-7-7-7--8--8--8-7-7-7--8--8-7-7--
F#|--8--8--8-7-7-7--8--8--8-7-7-7--8--8-7-7--
B |--8--8--8-7-7-7--8--8--8-7-7-7--8--8-7-7--

Entrance into Bridge:

F#|--8-8-8-7-7-7-8-8-8-7-7-7-8-8-7-7--
B |--8-8-8-7-7-7-8-8-8-7-7-7-8-8-7-7--
[P.M.---------------------------]

On the last time you play this riff, stop palm-muting about half-way through.

Then fade into the bridge with this:

F#|–3–
B |–3–

Bridge: (with clean or acoustic tone)

C#|--3---------------5--------------
G#|--6---------------8--------------
E |--5---------------7--------------
B |--3---------------5--------------
F#|--3---------------5--------------
B |--3---------------5--------------

I’m really just using these chords as starting points. You can simply strum these throughout the bridge and it’ll sound fine, but there seems to be some picking and arpeggiating done throughout. These chords just sounded close enough to me (I’ll admit it, I’m lazy).

Outro:

[A)]

F#|--3--3--3--2--%--3--%-3--3--2--2--
B |--3--3--3--2-----3----3--3--2--2--

[B)]

F#|--3--3--3--2--%--3--%-3--3--2--2--
B |--3--3--3--2-----3----3--3--2--2--

[P.M.]

I know the way I labeled riffs is a little messed up, but if you pop in the CD and listen along, it’ll make things a lot easier to place.

To play the most songs, including We the People by 40 Below Summer by ukulele, the most crucial basic ukulele chords to learn are C chord, D chord, G chord, and Em chord.
These set you up to play a ton of songs, and each of them is easy to master.
